Chaka Khan Opens Chaka's Plantbaed Café in Serenbe, Georgia, November 1

New plant-based café brings food, music and community together as the Chaka Khan Foundation expands its mission of inclusion through charitable giving and a new playground communication board

SERENBE, Ga., Nov. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Chaka Khan, recipient of 11 Grammy Awards, including the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award, and her sister Tammy Michelle, co-founders of Chaka’s Plantbaed Café, will celebrate the opening of the new café in Serenbe, Georgia, on Sunday, November 1, in partnership with Plantbaed founder and culinary director Anne Onyeneho.

More than a new dining destination, the café brings together plant-based cuisine and community impact through a partnership with the Chaka Khan Foundation, supporting programs benefiting neurodivergent children and adults.

The opening coincides with Serenbe’s annual Hamlet Day celebration, featuring a café ribbon-cutting at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Foundation’s unveiling of a playground communication board at Terra School at 2 p.m.

Where Food Meets Purpose

The partnership grew from Chaka and Tammy Michelle’s love for Plantbaed’s whole-food, plant-based cuisine and a shared commitment to nourishing body, mind and spirit. The Serenbe café is Plantbaed’s second location and the first to carry Chaka’s name.

“The minute I tasted Anne’s food, I knew I wanted to share it with everybody,” said Chaka Khan. “I’ve always believed that good food, like good music, brings people together. This café is about more than what’s on your plate. It’s about love, community, and making sure everybody feels welcome. And if we can make a difference in people’s lives along the way, that’s what it’s all about!”

“Tammy and Chaka came to us as customers, and they loved this food before anyone talked about a partnership,” said Anne Onyeneho, Plantbaed founder and culinary director. “I’ve always wanted to show people just how delicious and satisfying plant-based food can be. Now we’re bringing that experience to Serenbe with a partner who shares our passion for healthy living and our belief that good food can bring a community together.”

The café features Plantbaed’s whole-food, plant-based menu, prepared without seed oils, GMOs or soy. Its signature Chaka Bowl combines black beans, Plantbaed ground walnut meat, cilantro-lime wild rice, pumpkin-seed jalapeño pesto and pico de gallo, finished with Chaka’s “Through the Fire” house sauce.

Beyond the menu, guests can browse the café’s gift shop for merchandise and gift items. The café also extends Chaka Khan’s growing wellness brand, joining her online meditations and her signature aromatherapy fragrance, Chaka by Chaka Khan, in a whole-person approach to nourishing body, mind and spirit.

“Chaka’s name is on the door, so this café reflects who she is,” said Tammy Michelle, COO of Chaka Khan Enterprises and co-founder of Chaka’s Plantbaed Café and the Chaka Khan Foundation. “That means great food and a place where everyone has the chance to belong. A donation at the register and a communication board on the playground are how we start on day one.”

The Chaka Khan Foundation: Creating a More Inclusive Community

Central to the partnership is the Chaka Khan Foundation’s commitment to helping neurodivergent individuals participate, belong and thrive.

The new playground communication board at Terra School uses visual symbols, words and pictures to help non-speaking children express themselves and interact with their peers.

Both Chaka’s Plantbaed Café and Plantbaed’s existing location will invite customers to support the Foundation through checkout donations.

The café also plans to create employment opportunities for neurodivergent adults and host Foundation community programming.
